Viking shoes: part II


Good day,

Just to follow up on those shoes, here's a picture of the finished pair.



They are on their way to their new owner.

There's not much I can do to help without being there, but there are things I can suggest.

First, check out this website: Medieval Footwear

Second, make patterns out of paper, cloth, foam board, whatever, but make about three before you even cut your leather. You want to be confident that it will fit. Make your soles skinnier than you think you need to (max. the width of your foot), and longer than you think.

It will probably take a few messed-up shoes before you make a pair you're satisfied with. Note that I sold the pair shown because they were too small. That's always something you can do.
